Services and Social Support for Breast Cancer

What We Do 

SASS for Breast Cancer is a program that provides many types of support to breast cancer survivors in Licking County.  If you or someone you know is a breast cancer survivor, contact us for help as you navigate the journey of breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery

All services are free and confidential.

 If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and reside in Licking County, enrollment in SASS offers you the following:

Financial Support includes reimbursement for outpatient and inpatient services, along with assistance with expenses related to mammography, hair replacement, prosthetics and other cosmetic care.  Anyone diagnosed with breast cancer is eligible, and is not assessed based on their income levels.

Educational Support includes information and referral on mammography, self-exams, and educational programs for young women on prevention and benefits of early diagnosis.  The program also sponsors and promotes fundraising in Licking County focused on breast cancer awareness and prevention.

Personal Support includes connecting women diagnosed with breast cancer to services needed such as cosmetic care, prosthetics, lymphedema care, child care options, and transportation issues.

Social Support includes access to events such as dinners, informative workshops, and support groups held locally.  Also available are mentor relationships and access to a SASS participant internet bulletin board and email group for sharing and support with other breast cancer survivors in the county.

Free Conference for Local Breast Cancer Survivors 

The Licking County Health Department is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual SASS New Year’s Update for Breast Cancer Survivors in Licking County.  This will be held at Cherry Valley Lodge on January 10, 2009, 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.  If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with breast cancer, join other local survivors and get the latest updates on breast cancer.  Registration for this event is free for local breast cancer survivors and a caregiver (sister, friend, mother, spouse, etc.).  Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided along with great take home gifts.  To register for the New Year’s Update or for more information, call Mary at 740-349-6535.  SASS for Breast Cancer is funded by Susan G.
